Weekly Topics

Week 1: First Responders

Learn what it takes to be a first responder! We will be exploring different professions, talking about our local Firefighters, EMTs, and Police to get a hands-on experience of what it is like to be a first responder! Students will create letters and artwork to send appreciation to first responders within our community.

Week 2: Public Services

Explore how public services impact our daily lives. Students will “build” their way through the week using hands-on activities.  Learn from Building Contractors and Electricians to see how they utilize math and science to create our cities!

Week 3: Healthcare

This week is all about health! From healthy cooking to how our bodies work, we will be learning all about health and the individuals who work in the healthcare field. Students will use critical thinking skills to learn about healthy lifestyles.

Week 4: Mail Services

You’ve got mail! Each day students will learn about how we send and receive mail around the world.  Students will examine the processes for sending letters and packages and hear from our local mail service personnel.

Week 5: Community Political Leaders

Learn about what it takes to lead a community!  Guest speakers will tell us about their day-to-day duties to keep our cities great!  Students will discover and role play qualities of a great leader.

Week 6: Educators

Professors, Scientists, Librarians on my! Students will discover the important role Educators play in our communities.  Hands-on science projects and interactive learning games will engage students in the importance of education. Come learn with us!

Week 7: Military

Learn how the forces protect the United States and its people! Each day students will learn about all five branches of the Military through online articles and guest speakers.

Week 8: Community Projects Love Our Animals

We are all about giving back to our community. This week we will be engaging in projects that will be bringing a positive impact to our school and communities.  Each day students will read and learn about philanthropy and how they can be world changers. We can lead with our hearts and our minds!

Week 9: Public Utility Services

What does it take for our community to work? Let’s find out! This week we will be exploring different jobs that help supply our city with energy, water, and keep our community clean. Students will experiment with different ways we can save energy to keep our planet clean!

Week 10: Social Services

“Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty” -Anne Herbert      Students will learn about volunteerism and how individuals make a difference in the lives of others. We will engage in discussion about important individuals in the past, and characteristics of how we all can make a difference in the world. Let’s all be world changers!

Program Description

Legacy Summer Days

The Legacy Summer Days program is open to students currently enrolled at a Legacy campus attending kindergarten through 8th grades Legacy Summer Days provides a safe, structured, caring, enriching and affordable program led by Legacy Traditional School trained and experienced staff. During the Legacy Summer Days program students will participate in: arts and crafts, field trips, organized sports, computer games, and cooperative learning activities.

Legacy Summer Days will last approximately 9-10 weeks beginning the day after the last day of school in May, 2018 through the day before the first day of school of the 2018-2019 school year. The cost is $30 per day per student. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack will be provided at no additional cost.
